            Picture

            Hello!

My name is Denise Mayree Reddekopp. I am 28 years old, and have been married the love of my life, Toby, for 8 wonderful years.  Ever since I can remember, I’ve have a strong passion for photography.  Eight years ago I decided to take my passion and evolve it into a full-time career.

Let me tell you why I started taking pictures, and how I got into this great career. Ever since I was a child, I have always loved to take pictures. I first began taking photos with a pink point and shoot Kodak film camera.  I had fashion shoot after fashion shoot with my Barbie dolls (I had a lot of Barbie dolls).  It wasn’t till much later that I was finally able to take fashion pictures with real people.  When I was 17 years old, I took a Photography Course through Granton Institute of Technologies. It was a great course that allowed me to learn a lot and allowed my skills to flourish.  I started to practice taking pictures for friends, family, and pretty much anyone who would let me.

In March of 2003, my father was hospitalized because he was bright yellow in color. For about a year, the Doctors did not know what the problem was.  They did test after test after biopsy after MRI but all was for naught.   It was during these tests that they did find a tumor blocking his bile ducts, which was causing him to turn yellow. They finally figured out that he had cancer in his bile ducts, and it had spread through his body to his lymph nodes. The doctors didn't give him very long to live. It was on December 18, 2004 that my Father passed away.

When we were planning the funeral, we realized that we had to travel quite far down memory lane to get a picture of my dad that we could use. It then occurred to me that I never wanted anyone else to go through that; having to go to a picture from when my dad was a young man rather than being able to use a recent photograph.  My Dad was always encouraging my photographic career. He would always take an interest in what I was doing and inspires myself to move forward. My dad, even in his death, is still my inspiration to take photographs.

It is because of my dad that my Passion for Photography is so great, and I love feeling the creative juices that flow through me when I am holding my camera.  I do my best to capture the moment and the feeling of the moment when I take photographs.  If you would ask my friends they would tell you that I am enthusiastic, and generally care about other people.  They would say that I am funny, and would love to make you laugh. They would agree that I am always bubbly and excited for the new challenges that cross my path.

Please feel free to contact me through my ‘contacts’ page via e-mail or telephone. I would love to hear from you, and to connect with you.
